Welcome to The Salvation Army Kroc Center Home School Program!

Our homeschool courses are designed with you and your students in mind! We offer extracurricular classes that give your students the ability to socialize, collaborate, work as a team, and get experience in a classroom setting in a safe environment. We believe in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way they should go, and they will not depart from it.” Our classes are designed with life-giving principles and our teachers are here to serve you!

ART:

Found Object Art (ages 3-5)

Kids develop new skills and talents while designing unique creations using a variety of materials including paint, safety scissors, and recycled materials to make crafts and sculptures.

Young Doodlers (ages 3-5)

Preschool Doodlers is a basic drawing and painting class designed for children ages 3-5. This class utilizes instruments and materials that are suited to the dexterity and the fine motor skills of a 3-5-year-old, including pencils, paint brushes, safety scissors, etc.

Mix Media and Collage (Ages 6+)

Students will create multi-directional compositions with a variety of materials, paint, images, found objects, and ink painting. Techniques will include collage, monotype printing, drawing, painting, mixing, assemblage, cutting, and pasting.

Draw and Paint Animals (ages 6-7)

Draw and painting animals is a great introduction to the artistic craft. Through this class, students will explore composition, pattern, line, texture, scale, color, shading, and contrast. Media may include watercolor, tempera, charcoal, pencil, pastel, and prints.

Drawing and Painting (ages 8-9)

For kids who love art and want to have fun exploring a variety of approaches, mediums, and techniques. A great class for those who are just starting to draw or are looking to grow their skill. Students will explore composition, patterns, lines, texture, scale, color, shading, and contrast. Media may include watercolor, acrylic, charcoal, pencil, pastel, and prints.

DANCE:

Little Kroc Stars (Ages 5-6)
A beginner’s introduction to dance that will cover basic formal dance techniques. Your student will receive a foundation of dance and learn basic steps in ballet, tap, and creative movement. Students will be motivated in creativity and imagination through games, choreography, and activities. Dancers in this class will improve flexibility and coordination through age-appropriate instruction. Students will get to perform at the recital using what they learned in class.

Kroc Stars Dance (7-12)

A combination dance class that teaches in-depth technique in different dance styles. This class is geared toward older students an will move at a faster pace. Proper attire and dance shoes may be required.

Beginner’s Tap (7+)

Beginners Tap class for those looking to make some noise on the dance floor and learn rhythm and technique in the traditional tap style teaching.

CREATIVE ARTS

Broadcasting Arts (Ages 7+)

Broadcasting is back with Mr. Jordan! This semester we’re hoping to live stream a Kroc Center news from our class on Facebook! Your student could become the next local news star.

Acting 101 (Ages 7+)

This class will focus on different methods of acting, scene work, studying dramatic works, movement, and creative choices. Students will showcase their talents in the production in the Spring production.

Science Lab (Ages 8 +)

This class will consist of a science lesson followed by an experiment based on the lesson. Students may need to bring materials to class and will have a materials list supplied by the teacher.

MUSIC:

Little Krocs Music (Ages 4 – 5)

We believe music is important for your child’s personal development, so Little Krocs focuses on introducing kids to musical concepts with engaging activities, different instruments, and playful interactions with classmates. Students will get to perform at our end of the year recital using what they learned in class.

Youth Piano (Ages 7-12) 

This hour-long group piano course is designed with the beginning piano student in mind. We strive to have every student starting around the same level, so they can progress at the same speed. The semester begins with a need’s assessment for your student, and a learning plan will be developed from there. Your student will get to perform an end of the year recital.

Strings (ages 7+)

Your students will begin with a need’s assessment and a learning plan to help them learn to play the violin at a beginner level will be established. Students will perform at an end of the year recital. *Students must have the ability to read to enroll in this course.

Kroc Kid’s Music (Ages 6-7)

We believe music is important for your child’s personal development, so Kroc Kid’s focuses on introducing kids to musical concepts with engaging activities, different instruments, and playful interactions with classmates. Students will get to perform at our end of the year recital using what they learned in class.

Kroc Choir (ages 8 +)

Students will learn how to sing and perform as a group singing multiple parts. Choir helps to build a student’s musicality and learn to work together as a team. Students may go on to compete in competitions. Students will also perform at the end of the year recital.

Drums (Ages 8+)

Students will learn the basics and fundamentals of the snare drum and percussion instruments. This is a group class and students will perform in a recital at the end of the semester.

Guitar (Ages 8+)

Students will learn the basics and fundamentals of the acoustic guitar. This is a group class and students will perform in a recital at the end of the semester. Students may bring their own guitar or rent one from the Kroc center depending on availability.

Music Production (Ages 12 +)

Students will learn the basics of songwriting, music production, and music theory to work towards recording and producing their own original song.

Piano for Teens (Ages 13-17)

This is a group class for older piano students who are looking to seriously study their instrument and craft. Classes will begin with an assessment determining where your student is at and how to plan to help them grow in their musicianship. Students may be required to purchase materials for the course.

P.E.:

Physical Education ( Ages 4+)

Get your students active with age-appropriate exercise and guided workouts!

Swimming:

Swimming (Ages 4+)

Introduction to water safety class! Let your kids take a dip and enjoy the pool. Water safety floaties may need to be supplied based on swimming skills.

Due to lesson plans, the child must be age appropriate for the class.

Please do not bring in outside food. R.J.’s Cafe is open for your convenience!
