The Salvation Army Kroc Center Mississippi Gulf Coast is celebrating its 14th anniversary this week with Spirit Week.

From piano lessons to fitness classes, the center is opening its doors and giving visitors a chance to try out what it has to offer.

“There’s so much fellowship going on and it’s a place where everyone can belong,” The Salvation Army Kroc Center Mississippi Gulf Coast Marketing Coordinator, Morgan Shiyou said.

This week, the Kroc Center is waiving its $50 registration fee for anyone who becomes a member. Pool time and fitness classes are also free, so families can see if it’s the right fit for them.

“To come down and be a member of the Kroc Center, you get to have access to all of our fitness classes, and all of the swim opportunities that we have and just a wealth of wellness opportunities,” Salvation Army Area Commander Major Paul said.

Spirit Week runs through Sunday, with different themes each day. On Wednesday, the community is invited to a special birthday party for RJ the Croc, the center’s mascot. The party starts at 3:30 p.m. and includes free cupcakes.

The 52,000-square-foot facility offers programs for all ages, from art and music to health and wellness. Kids say their favorite part is making friends, drawing, and being in a welcoming environment.

“This place is a light, a beacon of hope, which is exactly what Joan Kroc wanted when she came to this site and visited,” Shiyou said. “If nothing else, just come give us a tour this week and see what we are all about.”

Scholarships are also available to help cover the costs of membership.

The next big event on the calendar is Kroctober Fest 2025 on October 24, from 6–8 p.m. Volunteers and candy donations are needed.
